Home services & trades

Homeowners do not shop for a contractor. They panic, then they search.

Roofing, HVAC, plumbing, remodeling, landscaping, pest control. The job arrives as a problem the customer wants gone today, and the site that wins it is the one that loads fast, proves you are real, and gets a human on the phone. Not the one with the nicest hero video.

The three things that decide a trades lead

We have looked at a lot of contractor sites. The same three failures cost the same money every time.

It has to load on a phone in a driveway

Home services searches happen standing in front of the problem, on cellular, often on an older phone. A four second load is not a slow site, it is a lost job, because the next result down loads in one. This is the single reason we hand-code instead of shipping a page builder carrying a megabyte of plugins.

It has to prove you are not a guy with a truck

The homeowner is deciding whether to let a stranger into their house. Licence and insurance stated plainly, real photographs of real jobs, reviews with names, a physical service area. Stock photos of someone else's kitchen do the opposite of what they are supposed to do.

The call has to actually connect

Most trades lose more revenue to unanswered phones than to bad rankings. You are on a roof, under a sink, or driving. An AI receptionist answers every one of those calls, takes the address and the job, and books it into your calendar.

And then it has to follow up

A quote sent and never chased is the most expensive document in this business. Automation texts the missed call back in seconds, chases the quote on day two and day six, and asks for the review after the job is signed off.

Each trade sells differently

Which is why a template with your logo dropped in does not work, even when it looks fine.

Roofing

Two completely separate businesses on one site: the emergency after a storm, and the planned replacement that takes three estimates and six weeks. The first needs a phone number above the fold and an honest response-time promise. The second needs financing, warranty and a gallery of finished roofs on streets the buyer recognises.

HVAC

The 2am no-cool call is pure speed and availability. The maintenance plan is the profitable half and it sells on arithmetic, not urgency. We build the emergency path to be one tap and the plan page to do the maths for the homeowner, because that is a decision, not a panic.

Landscaping and lawn

You are selling a recurring contract, so route density is the whole economic argument: ten neighbours on one street beats ten scattered across the county. That makes neighbourhood-level pages genuinely worth building here, in a way they are not for most trades.

Remodeling and renovation

A long, expensive, trust-heavy sale where the buyer is terrified of being abandoned mid-project. Process is the product: what happens in week one, who they talk to, how change orders work. We built Hartwell Home Improvement around exactly that.

Pest control is close enough to a trade to belong on this list and different enough to have its own page, because the money is in recurring commercial contracts rather than in one-off residential calls.

Work you can go and look at

Two live builds in service businesses that are performed at the customer's address.

Remodeling · Lafayette, LA

A veteran-owned remodeler whose entire site is built around one action: request a quote. Real photographs of his own jobs rather than stock, the licence and the service area stated plainly, and a lead form that texts him the moment it is filled. Built remotely, over video calls, which is how roughly half our trades work happens.

Questions from contractors

Do you build for one trade or all of them?

All of them, but not the same way. A roofer sells one large job after a storm and needs credibility and a fast phone call. A landscaper sells a recurring contract and needs a route-density argument. An HVAC company sells emergencies at 2am and maintenance plans in spring, which are two different pages doing two different jobs. Building those three the same way is the most common reason a trades site underperforms.

My leads all come from Angi and HomeAdvisor. Why do I need a site?

Because you are renting those leads and competing on price inside somebody else's marketplace. The homeowner who found you on Angi still searches your name before they let you into their house, and what they find decides whether you get the job at your price or theirs. The site is also the only asset in that chain you own.

How fast can you get a roofing or storm-damage page live?

Days, if it matters. Storm work is the one part of home services where speed of publishing beats everything, because demand appears in a week and is gone in a month. Hand-coded pages let us push a new service page the same afternoon, which is not true of a site that has to be rebuilt in a page builder.

Do you handle the phone when we are on a roof?

That is usually the biggest single win in this trade. An AI agent answers every call, takes the address and the job, and books it, so the call you physically cannot take at 3pm on a Tuesday does not become a competitor's job. See the AI receptionist.

Can you show me a home services site you have built?

Hartwell Home Improvement, a veteran-owned remodeler in Lafayette, Louisiana. Built for lead capture rather than for looking like a brochure, with the quote request as the only real action on the page. Frank's Trusted Tails in West Palm Beach is the other useful one to look at: a different trade, same problem of selling a service performed at the customer's home.

Send me your site and the phone number you use on trucks

I will tell you what it costs you in load time, what happens to a call you miss at 3pm, and whether the leads you are buying could be coming to you for free. Fifteen minutes, no deck.
